"As the day winds down, we head to Tairoa Lodge where we are staying for the night.  This Victorian villa has been beautifullly decorated by owners Linda and Steve Morrison and we feel pampered as soon as we step inside.  There is great company and delicious food and after the decadent shocolate dessert, I wonder if I will be able to stay afloat at our surfing lesson tomorrow".

"Historic homstead Tairoa Lodge, on the edge of Hawera, is set in lush gardens dominated by young kauri.  It has been faithfully restored and owners Linda and Steve Morrison offer two richly furnished suites for guests, delicious food and further accommodation in a self-catering cottage."

"Cuisine" Magazine - 2004

"Gracious old Tairoa Lodge, solid as a rock for 128 years, had us rugged up and reading within moments of arrival.  Run as a bed and breakfast by prize nuturers Linda and Steve Morrison, the lodge is a caring little capsule of familial warmth, cups of tea and not a thought spared by the abrasive world outside.  Furnished traditionally, Tairoa (meaning linger - stay longer) caters best for older, classical tastes and travellers in search of a little succour; witness Linda's old school breakfasts, the likes of which you may not have seen for decades and can't buy for love nor money in any city."

North & South Magazine - 2003

"We enjoyed our stay here at this famous house.  There was a great hospitality.  Linda gave us a lot of help.  We will recommend this place to all of our friends."

"You looked after us beautifully and gave us a delicious dinner and wonderful breakfast.  I loved your house and the kauri wood.  We do not normally stay in B & Bs, but we have been quite won over by the experience of Tairoa Lodge!"
