The historic 1875 Victorian villa, Tairoa Lodge is situated on four hectares of land on the Southern edge of Hawera, just two minutes drive to the centre of town. Nestled amongst mature trees in a park-like setting and guarded over by the magnificent stand of 70 year old protected Kauri trees, the Lodge has been transformed to its original glory. The three upstairs guest rooms each with private ensuites, have beautiful views over the swimming pool and garden.
The Isaac Bayly Suite
The upstairs master bedroom named after Isaac Bayly who built this house in 1875, is opulently decorated in a deep rich claret red. French pleated drapes and tiebacks have been chosen to complement the colour and the duvet and pillows specially made duvet to match. The old brass bedstead stands proud in this room with the queen bed fitted with quality linen and electric blanket. A king/single bed with a cream marcella bedspread makes this room ideal for guests travelling as a twin. The light fittings are white rose painted china and brass and match the decor beautifully. An antique washstand with basin and pitcher stand in one corner along with a wooden chest, chair and coffee table next to the fireplace. Watch television from your bed or you can watch it in the comfort of our guest sitting room.Enjoy your complimentary afternoon tea or aperitif on the balcony. This guest bedroom named after the family who owned the property for most of last century, is situated facing north and captures both the morning and afternoon sun. The drapes compliment the duvet, along with extra pillows and cushions. Brass and rimu wooden light fittings and an antique table lamp for reading at night adorn this room. Guests' Sitting Room
Relax and curl up on the luxurious green leather lounge suite with a magazine or book in front of the cosy wood fire in winter or, with the sun streaming in during summer. Sky television available. The sitting room is available for the use of our guests and has been decorated in dark country green to match the beautiful suite and furnishings. The large fireplace has a beautiful wooden surround and mantle, flanked by a bookcase and an original in-built mottled kauri and rimu unit.
Afternoon tea or aperitif can be served in the privacy of your suite or in the sitting room on your arrival.
Guests' Dining Room
Breakfasts and dinner are served in this elegant formal dining room. The rich red of the wallpaper gives warmth to the room on a cold winters night. Two sets of french doors open out onto the verandah, which make it an ideal room for inside and outside entertaining, barbeques in summer, alfresco breakfasts on the verandah and taking advantage of the long summer evenings. The gas fireplace in this room is original black marble and has an intricate painted floral surround. A warm cosy room to enjoy your sumptuous breakfast or gourmet dinner.Back to Top
